I’m a crime historian, lecturer, and teller of suspense stories for adults.  I’m also the author of The Science of Sherlock Holmes, a book about the history of forensic science.  Published by John Wiley & Sons, and my first book, it won an Edgar® Award in 2007 from the Mystery Writers of America and was short-listed for an Anthony Award.

The Science of Sherlock Holmes evolved from my work organizing and moderating the Forensic Forum at the Museum of Long Island Natural Science at Stony Brook University. I’ve also published in other venues including the New York Times, Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine, and The Lancet.

On my website there’s a lot more about the book, programs I present, and pictures – including one of a very handsome assistant, Dr. Watson, RLR (Resident Labrador Retriever).

Contact informaton:  My e-mail address is EJcrimehistory@optonline.net.  Be sure to include the phrase “forensic science” in the Subject line to distinguish your message from SPAM which my e-mail program will discard.

Hello EJ! I’ve been devouring “The Science of Sherlock Holmes,” after having the good fortune to see you at the recent Sherlock Holmes society event on John Watson. I’d adore interviewing you (one question or ten or anything in between, whatever you have time for). If you’re all right with that, please drop me a note!
